Spooky Microgreen Pizza

A frightfully fresh twist on pizza night — topped with creepy-crawly veggies and a harvest of fresh Perro DFW Microgreens!

Servings:

Makes 2 medium spooky pizzas

Prep Time:

20 minutes

Cook Time:

15 minutes

Ingredients:

For the Pizza Base:

  • 2 prepared pizza crusts (or homemade dough)

  • 1 cup pizza sauce or marinara

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Toppings:

  • ½ cup black olives (cut into “spider” shapes )

  • ½ cup orange bell pepper, sliced into pumpkin faces

  • ½ small red onion, thinly sliced for “webs”

  • ½ cup cherry tomatoes, halved for “monster eyes”

  • A handful of broccoli florets or spinach leaves for spooky trees

  • Fresh Perro DFW Microgreens (pea shoots, radish, or broccoli microgreens work best!)

Optional:

  • Crushed red pepper for a scary kick

  • A drizzle of olive oil or garlic butter for flavor

Directions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Heat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Place the pizza crusts on a baking sheet or stone.

  2. Spread the Sauce:Evenly spread pizza sauce across each crust — think of it as your spooky red canvas.

  3. Add the Cheese:Sprinkle mozzarella cheese generously over the top.

  4. Create Your Creepy Faces:

    • Use black olives to make little spiders (cut one olive in half for the body, slice the other half into legs).

    • Shape bell pepper slices into pumpkins or fangs.

    • Place onion rings as “webs” and cherry tomatoes as monster eyes.

    • Add broccoli florets like haunted trees creeping in the background.

  5. Bake:Slide the pizzas into the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden.

  6. Top with Microgreens:Once baked, let the pizza cool slightly, then sprinkle your fresh microgreens on top — they add a fresh crunch and burst of nutrition to your spooky masterpiece!

  7. Serve & Scare: Slice, serve, and enjoy your Halloween creation with friends and family.

Note:

Radish or broccoli microgreens add a zesty flavor that balances perfectly with the melted cheese. Plus, they make your pizza look alive — like it’s growing right off the plate!

Fun Tip:

Let kids (or the kid in you!) decorate their own “monster” pizzas — the goofier the face, the better!
